Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh - or the blessings of St. Patrick's Day on ye.
Dinner this evening, as has become tradition, was provided for us by our great friend Va. Potatoes, cabbage, soda bread and corned beef. We'll, in charity, make no mention of the horseradish.
One of us not dressed in green - but I was wearing an Irish Linen guayabera (an authentic Mexican guayabera made from pure Irish linen? Don't ask).
We did bring a green liquor as we were certain, correctly so as it turned out, that Va had not tasted green Chartreuse. It turned out to be a very good way to end the meal and added to the already mellow feeling that good food and finer company had already engendered.
I've never been fond of green beer - or beer in general, to be honest. But this drink, the only one ever to have a color named after it, is quite something. Those monks in the French Alps know what they are doing!
